Tracked Excavators Micro & Midi
Tracked Excavators
Considerations
- What sized buckets do you require with the excavator?
- Are buckets required to be toothed or bladed?
- Is the excavator required on rubber tracks (13t and below)? Or steel tracks?
- Is there a requirement for RCI’s (Rated Capacity Indicators)?
- Is there a requirement for any attachments?

Important Information
Associated Risks
Risks associated with the use of these products, but not limited to:
Falling from height - gaining access into the cab, re-fuelling, and access for maintenance and inspections
Plant coming in contact with overhead obstructions or buried utilities
Crushing risk in equipment slew zones
Overturning due to ground/site conditions particularly when lifting operation being carried out
Overloading when lifting unknown loads and on uneven ground
The Effect of weather on visibility and working/traffic surfaces
Noise & Dust - use of accessories – e.g., breaker
Pedestrians or workforce in operational exclusion zone - A Plant marshaller should be provided in a safe position to direct excavator operation and any pedestrian movements.
Public interface – working alongside pedestrians/ vehicles – consider slew restrictors
If used adjacent live lanes control measures must be put in place that in the event of operator error the machines will be prevented from striking passing traffic e.g., slew restrictors, banks man remote cut out
Fire – Necessity of specific firefighting measures to consider fuel/power source
