Select Plant Hire has taken a significant step toward a greener future with the purchase of 11 new electric and hybrid boom lifts from long-standing partner Skyjack, becoming the first UK customer to acquire Skyjack’s all-electric boom models.

This investment marks the beginning of a major renewal of our current Powered Access 3b fleet, with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. Following successful trials and positive feedback from both operators and clients, we have added the Skyjack SJ45 and SJ60 AJE+ electric booms to our fleet. The first two machines have already been deployed and are helping to lower emissions across our projects.

In addition to their environmental benefits, the new electric booms offer an impressive 42% reduction in operational carbon output compared to previous models - supporting our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and driving sustainable change in the construction industry.

Tom Barrow, Product Leader at Select Plant Hire, commented:

“At Select we are driving the shift towards more sustainable construction and are constantly looking for ways to improve the environmental impact of our fleet including introducing electric and hybrid plant where possible. The positive trial feedback from both operators and customers cemented our decision to renew the Select Powered Access fleet with the Skyjack electric machines.”

The new order includes nine additional electric and hybrid articulating boom lifts, reinforcing our sustainability commitments and supporting the construction industry’s transition to cleaner technologies.

Dean Marks, Skyjack European Sales Manager, stated:

“Select Plant Hire’s investment in our latest range of electric and hybrid booms is a clear testament to the industry's shift toward sustainable solutions, and at Skyjack we are committed to delivering equipment that aligns with the future of responsible construction. By choosing energy-efficient machinery, customers are not only enhancing operational performance but also reducing environmental impact.”

The Skyjack SJ45/60 AJE+ models also feature advanced telematics for remote diagnostics, further improving efficiency and reducing downtime.

This strategic investment underscores Select Plant Hire’s leadership in sustainable construction and its ongoing mission to provide innovative, environmentally responsible solutions to our clients.
