Our role: We were approached in May to design and construct a single-storey classroom with essential facilities in record time, ready for the new intake of students in September.

One of the first schools in the Dagenham region opened in 1877, and during the 1960s numbers throughout the area began to swell. In response, a new purpose-built open school plan was designed and opened in 1970. Now called William Bellamy Junior, the school has experienced growth ever since.

Achieving value for money together

In response to the school's rapid increase in students, we instilled a close, collaborative, open approach and worked alongside the school to ensure best value for money within their strict budget constraints.

Despite a limited budget, we were able to provide a single-storey, high quality solution with a sink and wet area, plastisol external envelope, air conditioning (heating and cooling), UPVC windows and doors, vinyl faced plasterboard walls and ceilings, and heavy duty carpet tiles. We also formed a connection to the existing school by constructing a hallway to link the two together.

Delivering with speed

Our in-house experts were at the ready, and despite a standing start, offered an impressive turnaround to meet the critical deadline. In just 17 weeks from the initial enquiry, with only six weeks spent on site, we made sure the class was fully operational and ready to house a class full of warm, happy children.
