Full Project Details

Our role: In just 12 weeks, Robert Clack Secondary School’s expanding sixth form were given much needed extra space; 18 specialised, enhanced classrooms now feature within two wings reaching two storeys high.

With close attention to detail, the new additions complement the existing historical buildings with brick slip borders, while hallways connect them for ease of movement. We followed a strict programme and seamlessly implemented a phased delivery to meet the school’s critical deadline.

Specialising in science, mathematics, ICT and languages, Robert Clack has progressed rapidly to become a mainstay of the Government's '100 most improved schools list', achieving the top 1% of schools nationally for their contextual value added score. Her Majesty the Queen knighted head teacher Sir Paul Grant to honour his contribution to the community – he dedicated this to the school for successfully working together to achieve growth.

Rapid response to growth

Funded by the Young People's Learning Agency, we helped maximise value for money by working closely with the school to select the most cost effective options. Our industry-leading offsite manufacture solution Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), ensured a rapid construction programme, not only resulting in cost benefits, but also high quality control, less CO2 emissions and an outstanding level of safety.

Eliminating disruption

We spent only 13 weeks on site, and carried out the main installation works during half-term break and summer holidays to eliminate disruption to the curriculum.

An impressive turnaround

To guarantee funding, a strict programme was imperative. Our defect free, phased delivery made sure the complex was handed over on time. We also worked extensive out of hours to achieve this. Having chosen our 'enhanced' option, the new classrooms enjoy air conditioning (heating and cooling), ample natural light and a high level of fit-out, including science equipment, all within a high quality facade edged by brick slips to complement the school's existing architecture.

We have a new building that’s fit for purpose, and a credit to education.
